CAPTIVATED BY…
When something takes your breath away enjoy every second of it!
I was out walking my dog Lucy this week at sunset. As we came around a corner the mountains in the distance had a burnt orange hue to them – I reached for my smartphone to capture the beauty of the moment. The picture was a poor reflection of the real thing.
I had to choose between trying to keep taking a photo or not.
My phone went back into my pocket and I stood there speechless, soaking in the breathtaking beauty of the ever-changing colors. I felt privileged and filled with gratitude. My awe was interrupted by Lucy trying to get my attention back on our walk!
As we resumed walking I thought about how life is lived and appreciated in the ordinary moments. I wonder what you or I will be present to when it grabs our attention or takes our breath away?
PRACTICES:
- Be open and aware to the beauty around you
- Be present to whatever takes your breath away
Notice how the delight and awe your experience in allowing yourself to be captivated changes your perceptions of the day.
