GET OUT OF THE WEEDS!
Don’t miss the joy and gratitude by getting caught up in the weeds of life!
I was running around checking off items on my “to do” list in preparations for our Thanksgiving feast. My expectation and gratitude for our Thanksgiving suddenly dissipated. I felt ornery as it all became an endless chore. “Ugh” I thought. What was going on?
I’d become caught in the weeds of my prepping. That was not a place I wanted to linger for too long.
What chores could be farmed out, deleted from the list or completed more efficiently? I wanted to return to my expectant gratitude for my favorite holiday gathering!
I returned to my tradition of visualizing each person who would gather around our table, naming and giving thanks for them and at least one attribute I admired or adored. I was out of the weeds and feeling whole!
PRACTICES:
- Notice and name your journey through the weeds of life so they do not choke you
- Choose a practice to reground you in what really matters
Notice how your healthy, grateful responses are like a weed killer.
