IS THIS THE DAY?
What would you do differently if this was the day – your last day?
A friend set off to work and kissed his spouse goodbye as he did each day. Except this was no ordinary day. It was the day when he had a heart attack and died at work. I was stunned by the news – 53 is way too young to die. Death has a way of shaking you up with by making old questions seem new.
I’ve been wondering what choices you or I make each day, or do we even consciously make them?
The old questions suddenly seem radiant and relevant. What would I like this day to be like? Will I let the people I love know that? What drama and nonsense can I step away from? What work or choice will nourishing? And so my list goes….
The results seem uncertain other than knowing this – the many things in my control come with choices for how this day might be. If this is your last day what will you choose?
PRACTICES:
- Be present to this day
- Treasure this day with gratitude
Notice the shift that happens when this day is the day!
