SURPRISING GOOD MEMORIES!
Surprising good memories come alive when we allow ourselves to be present to them!
Last week was the first birthday of a friend since her death. I was out walking early that morning giving thanks for Linda and her zest for life. As I remembered countless times spent together I smiled at the slew of memories that popped up unexpectedly of taking long walks whenever we were together. And of the rich conversations on those walks. I imagined her walking alongside me on the canal bank.
With gratitude I cherished those memories that seemed so fresh and wondered what other memories would come alive.
Later that day I realized I had not thought about what this weekly message might say. And then I thought of how much Linda enjoyed them, often sending an email with a quick thought or insight in response to the Wake Up Call!
I’m thankful for the good memories come alive this week. I wonder what memories you and I will be present to today and in the week ahead.
PRACTICES:
- When thinking of someone be filled with loving-kindness to them
- Be present to the good memories that unexpectedly present themselves
Notice how surprising good memories engage you.
